Music enthusiasts have another big date to mark on the September schedule as another set of highly anticipated albums is set to hit stores. Starlets Carly Rae Jepson and Beck will be releasing their respective albums on the same daySeptember 18.
Of Jepsen’s upcoming Day and Night, Us Weekly writes, it’s her first real highlight since 2008’s keenly awaited. Beck’s Ride Lonesome is also noteworthy, as it’s his first album of all-new compositions since his Grammy-winning Hyperspace, making September 18 a very important date for fans of pop, as well as alternative, music.
Carly Rae Jepsen has divided her new album into a night and day theme. Jepsen is being quite audacious with the Day and Night album consisting of 24-tracks, which are to be a double album split into two halves. It is set to feature twelve tracks on the Day side and another twelve on the Night side.
But it is to be released through Interscope Records and features the already released theme song On Wires. The idea delves into the realm between day and night, providing Jepsen with the chance to shift between moods in the two halves of the record.
The “Day” side is based on live instrumentation and psych-tinged 70s pop, and the “Night” side leans toward polished, synth-heavy dance pop.
The tracklist for the record involves “After All”, “Versailles”, “Blue Skies”, “Wild Child” and “Just a Little Walk on the Moon” for the Day section. For the Night section there is “Amalfi Coast”, “Don’t Leave Me on the Dance Floor”, “Motivation”, “Diver” and “Super Sage”.
The size of this project makes it one of Jepsen’s most exciting releases to date, mainly in the wake of the popular emotions and timelessness of time albums.
Beck is coming at you from a totally different direction for the September release. Ride Lonesome will be released on Capitol Records with 12 new tracks and has been heralded as his first full studio album of entirely fresh material since Hyperspace.
Beck has reunited with musicians connected to some of his best-loved output, including those who were involved in recording Sea Change, Morning Phase and Mutations. Beck himself took up production duties while familiar collaborator Nigel Godrich recorded the mixes.
The expectation is that the album will embrace atmospheric, intimate and cinematic qualities of those previous records.
Beck has given fans a preview already of what the album has to offer via “Ride Lonesome, ” “In The Night” and “Disappearing Act, ” which was released in August and includes more orchestration and a more ambient sound.
It begins with the bands title track, continuing with tracks such as ‘Run Away’, ‘Failed Words’, ‘Bleed’, ‘Slow Canyon’, ‘Falling Through My Hands’ and ‘Beyond The Light’.
